Being a recent grad is scary, nerve-wracking, and most of all exciting. I recently felt all these emotions in full force when I helped present a competitive pitch to a major client’s CEO and their team. What a pinch-me moment this was. If I could go back and tell myself everything I have achieved in my first year out of uni I wouldn’t believe it. These are the kinds of opportunities made possible by the Assembled Academy.
The Assembled Group has created a three-month-long graduate program called the Assembled Academy. The Academy aims to provide a pathway for talented graduates to gain real-world experience and individual mentoring and coaching from inspiring team leaders, within the creative and marketing space.
What I liked most about the Assembled Academy besides the many more moments of disbelief, was that the program was personalised to me. I got to choose three different rotations that allowed me to explore my interests, studies, and goals.
My first rotation was with narrative PR. They gave me the chance to delve into the media landscape and tap into my inner journalist. I was given hands-on experience writing and pitching media releases, liaising with journalists and clients, as well as executing editorial and advertorial campaigns. The
My second rotation was with Media Buying and Planning agency Assembled Media. They taught me to use data to get into the mind of the consumer, and how to feed this valuable knowledge back to our clients in a digestible way.
My final rotation was with Strategic Brand Growth agency Davidson Branding. They put my copywriting skills to the test, writing blogs, social media posts and eDM’s for up-and-coming brands.
The Assembled Academy has provided me with the skills to achieve things I didn’t know were possible, and has exposed me to some pretty cool events and experiences. Aside from the amazing practical advice and abilities I gained, the program has given me the opportunity to be mentored by some of the very best in the industry.
The Assembled Academy is like no other, it lets graduates explore their passions and take control of their future in a supportive and dynamic environment.
My time at the Academy has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. It has made me feel like I do have a place within the industry. I hope any future grads that are lucky enough to take part in this program get as much out of it as I did.
